Electrical power distribution

One of the principal large-scale applications of composite materials is the over 450 kilometers of fiberglass-reinforced acrylic resin cable trays in the Channel Tunnel.

Five different types of conduit were used, with sections of up to 600x200 mm and wall thicknesses of 3.5 mm, comprising a total of over 2,200 tons of composite materials. Used for electrical power, telephone, and fiber optic cables, these materials fully comply with the stringent standards dictated by the British and the French for fire resistance and the emission of light, non-toxic, halogen-free emissions.

In addition to numerous industrial applications, there is a broad variety of solid or vented conduits in composite materials installed in rail, highway, or pedestrian tunnels.

Top Glass also manufactures cable trays, channels and ladders for offshore applications meeting the requisites specified by the major operators in this sector.
